Inter Milan's surprising elimination from the Champions League generated harsh reactions in Italy. After another setback to the Norwegian team Bodo/Glimt, score 1-2, Alessandro Del Piero (51 years old) analyzed the performance of the Nerazzurri and questioned the team's style of play and mentality.

After the failure in Norway, Inter had to reverse the fate of the qualification in the second leg of the play-off for the “eighties”.

His students Cristi Chivu however, they did not manage to impose themselves this time in front of those from Bodo/Glimt and ended their European journey in a disappointing manner.

Alessandro Del Piero criticized Cristi Chivu's Inter: “Let's be realistic”

After the elimination of Inter, Del Piero commented on the performance of Cristi Chivu's team and reached a clear conclusion:

“Inter didn't show much. Such matches have to be taken seriously. Inter played dull and below their level. They must be very disappointed. They didn't do anything concrete to ignite their fans, to wake up the stadium and catch wings“, said the former captain of the Italian national team.

Del Piero also made a comparison with Juventus, the club where he experienced the greatest successes of his career:

“We have to be realistic. Inter don't have that Italian style and that winning mentality that Juventus had. On the other hand, Bodo/Glimt played an exceptional match. The players worked as a team, and that made the difference“, added Del Piero.

The legend of Italian football continued the analysis and emphasized the lack of intensity of the hosts:

“Inter did too little. You win games like this when you do something above average. Inter played at an average level. There were almost 80,000 spectators in the stands. You only need a moment to ignite such an audience.

It's a shame, because Inter had everything they needed to move on,” concluded Alessandro Del Piero, according to fcinter1908.it.
