The deputy minister emphasized that the process of approving annual plans submitted by mining companies is currently underway. After their approval and grant applications, appropriate agreements will be concluded.
Planned departures in Polska Grupa Górnicza
The data presented by Konrad Wojnarowski shows that at the end of 2025, the Polish Mining Group (PGG) employed 34,970 people.
In 2026, the company plans to discontinue the operation of two mines: Wujek in the Staszic-Wujek mine (from April 1) and Bielszowice in the Ruda mine (from July 1).

The first departures based on one-off severance pay (JOP) are planned in March, and payments are to start in April. A total of 738 people will leave PGG in 2026, and 2,324 will take mining and processing holidays.
Węglokoks Country: closure of the Bobrek mine
The Bobrek mine, owned by Węglokoks Kraj, ended mining at the end of 2025. The company employed 1,829 people at that time. From January 1 this year The plant is being liquidatedincluding, among others, construction of backfill dams, backfilling of workings and preparations for the liquidation of the Ignacy shaft. In 2026, the demolition of approximately 30 surface structures is also planned.
250 people are to leave Bobrek, and 246 employees will take mining holidays. Additionally, 150 people have already been allocated to PGG, and another 150 are to be covered by a similar arrangement.

A subsidy of approximately PLN 40 million was allocated for the liquidation of the plant, and the first payments were scheduled for mid-March.
Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. Waiting for support
Employment at Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW) at the end of 2025 amounted to 20,488 people. The company may be covered by the support system, but this requires its inclusion in a strategic government document.
JSW submitted a request for support in the amount of PLN 653 million, while the act provided for PLN 447 million.

In 2026, 5,639 people are expected to take mining and processing leaves, and 2,150 will leave under the Labor Code.
Higher interest in covers in mining
The director of the mining and metallurgy department at the Ministry of Economy, Iwona Malik, drew attention to the greater than expected interest in the covers. For example, at PGG the number of people applying for mining holidays increased from the planned 2,027 to 2,324, and 275 people want to take advantage of processing leaves, initially unplanned.
Malik emphasized that the processes related to the organization and recording of funds require time and precision, which explains the delays in payments.
