Much wiser than the media caricature

Kislitsa, who is also a member of the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with the aggressor country Russia, noted that it is not easy to try to end the war, but remembered that part of this journey is already behind him, simultaneously thanking the commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe, General Alexus Grinkevich, and US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll for the passed stage.

He said that the Americans must be commended “for their dedication and patience,” because they not only take part in the meetings, “not only observe, but also ask questions and listen to the answers.”

The BBC wrote that Kislitsa was equally positive about the roles of Kushner, whom he considers “no stranger,” and Witkoff, who he believes is “a much wiser man than the caricature portrayed in the media.”

Despite the fact that criticism of representatives of the Trump administration is “not in the interests of Kyiv,” Kislitsa’s praise of the efforts of the US delegation “sounded honest,” the author of the article noted.

Context

Witkoff was repeatedly criticized for his incompetence during negotiations to resolve Russian aggression against Ukraine, both in the United States and in Kyiv.

In particular, former commander of US forces in Europe Ben Hodges said that Kyiv should not believe a single word from Trump’s special envoy – this happened after it became known about the “consultations” that Witkoff conducted for negotiators from the aggressor country about flattery to Trump.

According to WSJ, it was Vitkoff who insisted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces withdraw from the territory of the Donetsk region, which they still control, as if this would avoid a further large-scale conflict.

In the spring of 2025, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky accused Witkoff of spreading Russian narratives, either consciously or unconsciously.

On February 17, 2026, Reuters, citing a number of experts, wrote that Vitkoff and Kushner, who are participants in nuclear negotiations with Iran and with the aggressor country Russia and Ukraine, allegedly can't cope with the responsibilities assigned to them.
