In Yekaterinburg, a trial has begun against an obstetrician-gynecologist accused of removing two fallopian tubes to a patient instead of one damaged one. This was reported by the Ural Meridian news agency.

In May 2022, a resident of the Urals experienced an ectopic pregnancy. The woman was hospitalized at Central City Clinical Hospital No. 1 with bleeding, where she underwent surgery. Before discharge, the head of the department assured the patient that the second fallopian tube remained intact and healthy, and advised her to try to get pregnant again.

When a woman began planning a pregnancy in 2023, she decided to be examined at a paid clinic. It turned out that the right pipe was missing (it was removed according to indications), and the left one was cut – only a stump remained. The woman assumes that the surgeon mixed up the tubes, got scared and hid the mistake. There was no mention of intervention on the second tube in the medical documents.

After lengthy investigations, in September 2025, a forensic examination confirmed that the left tube was damaged during the operation in 2022. In November, the doctor was charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm. The maximum penalty under this article is up to eight years in prison.
