A lasting and just peace will come when Russia is forced by Ukrainian soldiers and international pressure to stop its aggression, said Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty in the Ukrainian parliament. He also stated that an important security guarantee for Ukraine would be its accession to the EU.

During his speech on Tuesday at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the 4th anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Czarzasty said that Poland is uniting with Ukraine in the hope of lasting and just peace.
– However, we know that it will only happen when Russia is forced by your heroic soldiers and international pressure to stop its aggression against Ukraine. We want to believe that this may happen soon, said the Speaker of the Sejm.
He emphasized that in the past, Poland had more than once experienced a “concert of powers” that disregarded the interests of smaller countries. – We demand the restoration of rules, the restoration of an international order based on law and democratic values, respecting the interests of all countries. We demand a just peace, he said.
The Marshal of the Sejm said that one of the most important guarantees of security for Ukraine and its development will be its accession to the European Union, the pursuit of which – Czarzasty emphasized – Poland supports with all its might. (PAP)
Macron: I am very skeptical
French President Emmanuel Macron admitted on Tuesday during a meeting of the coalition of the willing that he is very skeptical that peace will be achieved in a short time. As he emphasized, there is no will on the Russian side to conclude such an agreement.
– I am, to put it mildly, very skeptical that we will achieve peace in the short term. Of course, I think it is good to continue these initiatives, but – let's be honest – there is no will on the Russian side to make peace, said Macron, who agreed with the participants of the meeting in Kiev.
He praised the recent successes of the Ukrainians on the front and emphasized that in military, economic and strategic terms, the Russians are currently suffering a defeat.
Macron called on other leaders to accelerate work on security guarantees for Ukraine. – The work is finalized by our team. “I think it is extremely important that now, based on (the results of) our meeting in early January, we bring it to an end,” he said.
– It is very important that we finalize everything we have agreed in specific words so that it is credible and constitutes a comprehensive, solid and lasting element, he stressed. (PAP)
