Viktor Orban mocks Kai Kallas. He mentions Adolf Hitler and Napoleon

- During a rally in Bekescaba, Viktor Orban criticized European Union leaders and Kaja Kallas for their approach to support for Ukraine
- The Hungarian Prime Minister compared the hopes of European politicians to defeat Russia to the failed attempts of Napoleon and Hitler
- Hungary announced a blockade of the EU loan to Ukraine until the resumption of crude oil transit to their country via the Druzhba pipeline.
The election campaign in Hungary is entering a key phase. The elections are scheduled for April 12 there. For this reason, Viktor Orban tours the country and meets with citizens during his rallies. At the one organized in Bekescaba in south-eastern Hungary, he attacked the deputy head of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, in strong words.
Why does Viktor Orban criticize the European Union?
What does Orban think about politicians' hopes to defeat Russia?
What steps has Hungary announced regarding the EU loan for Ukraine?
When will the elections be held in Hungary?
During a meeting with voters, Orban said that if Western European politicians supported ending the hostilities in Ukraine, “the war would already be over.” However, in his opinion, European leaders claim that the conflict caused by Russia should continue. According to him, they do not want to admit to the “mistake of joining the war.”
Orban mocks the deputy head of the European Commission. “Napoleon and Hitler tried it”
The Hungarian Prime Minister believes that Europe provides money for the war to Ukraine, although it “does not have the funds itself.” He also mentioned loans taken by European countries and then transferred to Ukraine in the form of a loan.
— Let TISHA [największa węgierska partia opozycyjna] he will win the elections if Ukrainians repay this loan. They only have one hope: to defeat Russia on Ukrainian territory. They will demand that Russia pay reparations. I won't comment on this. Let me just say that Napoleon and Hitler tried it. They failed. They failed, now Kaja Kallas is trying… It's a wrong strategy, Orban said.
At the beginning of February, the European Parliament adopted a package of three legal acts that enable the transfer of EUR 90 billion to Ukraine for 2026-2027. The next step is to be the formal approval of the package by member states within the EU Council.
Hungary has already announced the blocking of such a loan to Ukraine. As Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said, they intend to do this “until the resumption of crude oil transit to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline.”
