Through the popular game Pokémon Go, players obtained information about military installations in Belarus — Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus
The head of the ideological work department, Alexander Ivanov, described how the game was used to collect intelligence in the country:
You talked about anime and events taking place in the country, right? We don't take game form into account at all. Let's take the game Pokémon Go. About 10 years ago it was very popular. What was the point? All teenagers, children were sitting in some kind of application, you turn on the camera, augmented reality, look for some rare Pokemon, collect a collection.
Where were the most Pokemon at that time? On the territory of the 50th air base, where the runway is, there is a lot of military aviation equipment. There were the most Pokemon there. Is this not intelligence information?
