In the bathroom, a gray or black coating often appears on the seams between the tiles. This is not dirt – it is a fungus that multiplies due to moisture, temperature changes and lack of ventilation. Chlorine products smell pungent, irritate the lungs and do not always work.
But there is a simple method that does not mask, but destroys the fungus in the bud.
What you will need:
baking soda – 2 tbsp. l.
hydrogen peroxide 3% – 1 tbsp. l.
old toothbrush
paper towel
How to do:
- Mix baking soda and peroxide to form a thick paste.
- Apply the mixture directly to the seams, especially in dark areas.
- Leave it overnight.
- In the morning, gently wipe with a soft brush and rinse with warm water.
- Blot the seams dry to prevent reoccurrence.
Baking soda creates an alkaline environment in which the fungus cannot survive. Peroxide penetrates deep into the pores of the grout and destroys spores. Together they work better than bleach, but without the odor and irritation.
By morning the seams will be white, clean, without gray spots.
