“Since Monday.” Fico issued an ultimatum to Ukraine

“If oil supplies to Slovakia are not resumed on Monday, I will ask the state joint stock company SEPS to stop emergency supplies of electricity to Ukraine,” he wrote.

Fico accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of allegedly not wanting to understand the “peaceful approach” of Slovakia, which itself does not provide military assistance to Ukraine and blocks such support in the European Union.

“First he stopped gas supplies to Slovakia, which caused us damage of €500 million euros per year. Now he has stopped oil supplies, which causes us additional damage and logistical difficulties,” the head of the Slovak government wrote.

He also called it “absolutely correct” that Hungary blocked the approval of a €90 billion EU loan for Ukraine. Budapest intends to prevent the approval of the loan until the transit of oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline damaged by the Russian army is resumed.
