The woman was applying for benefits at the Social Fund when she was informed that in order to continue payments she needed to enter data on the child she had born in 2017 in Zaporozhye.
The Krasnoyarsk woman, who already has three children, stated that she had never been to either Zaporozhye or Kursk, where the birth was later registered. Moreover, in 2017 she served her sentence in a colony in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The correctional facility confirmed that during the entire period of her imprisonment, she was not pregnant and did not give birth.
The plaintiff herself suggested that someone had used her lost passport. The court examined all the evidence and agreed: the woman could not physically give birth to a child on the territory of Ukraine while in the Krasnoyarsk colony.
The birth record was declared invalid, and the woman was excluded from the “mother” column on the birth certificate.
