Viktor Orban accuses Ukraine of sabotage. “They closed the Druzhba pipeline”

Supplies of Russian oil flowing to Hungary and Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline running through Ukraine were suspended on January 27 after – as reported by the Ukrainian side – a Russian attack on energy infrastructure.
In response to the suspension of transit, the Hungarian oil company MOL asked the government on Monday to release strategic reserves of the raw material, and the government asked Croatia to allow the transport of Russian oil via the Adria pipeline. The raw material is to reach Hungary via this route in mid-March. Hungary accused Ukraine of deliberately withholding supplies of raw materials.

Viktor Orban accuses Ukraine

Orban said that Brussels has an obligation to defend Hungary and Slovakia, and Budapest therefore expects the European Commission to “summon and question” the Ukrainians. “Two EU Member States have been put at risk because of their decisions,” said the Prime Minister, adding that “those who closed the Druzhba pipeline also blew up Nord Stream“.

The European Commission “must defend the interests of member states, so it must side with Hungary and Slovakia against Ukraine; this is its task, this is what we expect,” noted the Hungarian Prime Minister.

In Orban's opinion Ukraine is interested in causing chaos in Hungary in order to influence the country's internal politics before the elections scheduled for April 12 this year.
