President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he was considering a limited military strike to pressure Iran into accepting a deal, according to the New York Times.

“I think I can say I'm considering it,” he said at the start of a meeting with governors at the White House.

Trump is mulling several options to strike Iran in the coming days amid negotiations over its nuclear program.

Iran announces draft deal 'in two or three days'

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Friday that a draft of an agreement in the Iranian nuclear field is to be completed in “two or three days” and that Iran will then present it to the United States, reports AFP, according to News.ro.

“The next stage, for me, is to present a proposal for a potential agreement to my American counterparts,” emissary Steve Witkoff and son-in-law of American President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, announced in an interview given to the American station MSNBC Abbas Araghchi.

“I think that in two or three days it will be ready”, assured the head of Iranian diplomacy.

Abbas Araghchi held indirect negotiations on Tuesday, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman, near Geneva, with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

“You'll probably find out in the next 10 days”

President Donald Trump suggested in a speech to the Peace Council on Thursday that a decision on Iran — whether to pursue diplomacy with Tehran or order a military strike — could be made within the next ten days.

“We may have to go a step further, or we may not. We may get a deal,” Trump said, referring to Iran. “You'll probably find out in the next 10 days, but today's meeting is proof that with determined leadership, nothing is impossible,” Trump said at the inaugural Peace Council meeting in Washington.

“Now is the time for Iran to join us on a path that will complement what we're doing. And if they do, that will be wonderful. If they don't, that will be wonderful, but it will be a very different path. They can't continue to threaten the stability of the entire region, and they have to make a deal,” Trump said Thursday.

“If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. Bad things will happen if it doesn't happen,” he added.

US and Israeli officials told Axios that a military operation against Iran would likely be a massive campaign lasting several weeks and could begin within days.
