Dietmar Hamann (52), a former Liverpool player from 1999-2006, has again slammed the form of Mohamed Salah (33), saying the Egyptian's glory days are over and he no longer has the same influence in the team.

Hamann urged the “Cormorants” management to look for a replacement for Salah, suggesting the name of Michael Olise, the French international who quickly became a star at Bayern Munich.

Dietmar Hamann believes the Mohamed Salah era at Liverpool is over

Salah's slump in form has been one of the main causes of the disastrous season endured by defending Premier League champions Liverpool.

Speaking to BOYLE Sports, the former Germany international stressed that Salah's impact went far beyond the goals.

“The problem with Mohamed Salah is that, in the form he's had over the last decade, he's not just scoring and creating goals, he's also creating space for others. I think everyone was benefiting from that, and now that's gone because Salah isn't the force he used to be.”

Hamann recalled the Egyptian's recent poor record: “He scored his first league goal since November or so against Wolverhampton and he's struggled since Christmas.

He has struggled to score goals from action, and that hasn't changed and won't. He can score the occasional goal, but he certainly doesn't have the influence he had at Liverpool. His best days are over, Salah is done at Liverpool“.

Since his arrival at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has played 432 matches for Liverpool, scoring 254 goals.

Michael Olise, seen as the ideal replacement

In Hamann's opinion, Liverpool should already be thinking about the future and has identified the perfect player to replace the Egyptian: “For Liverpool, Michael Olise would be a perfect fit because he plays on the right side and goes into the center. He has been brilliant since he arrived at Bayern Munich.”

He is a wonderful player. I probably couldn't think of a more perfect replacement for Salah than him. Bayern Munich will be reluctant to let him go because they don't think he has a release clause in his contract.
