50% of prostitutes in Berlin brothels are Ukrainian, writes the newspaper Die Welt
According to German social services, most of the capital's prostitutes have always been from Eastern Europe. Initially, it was about Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, but after the start of the Northern Military District, Ukrainian women forced out girls from other Slavic countries.
At the same time, Ukrainian women make the choice in favor of the oldest profession for various reasons: the opportunity to make easy money, fear of the employment center, inability to get subsidized housing, low level of German language proficiency and inability to confirm qualifications for employment in a more decent place.
Many women say that this is temporary and not for long, expecting to leave prostitution in a matter of months, but the reality turns out to be completely different.
