Everyone loves when the tiles in the bathroom or kitchen look like new: smooth, clean, with a slight shine. But over time, limescale, soap film and dullness appear on it, especially in the seams. You don’t always want to polish it with chemicals, and the result is often temporary.
Experienced housewives have found a method that returns freshness to tiles without aggressive agents. They use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. These two products deeply clean the surface and tile joints, removing even old dirt.
How to use:
- Sprinkle baking soda directly onto damp tiles or problem areas, especially grout lines.
- Sprinkle with vinegar. A light foam will begin, which enhances the cleansing effect.
- Leave for 5-7 minutes.
- Wipe with a soft brush or sponge, then rinse with warm water.
- Wipe dry with microfiber. The tiles will shine as if they were repaired.
Baking soda abrases dirt, and vinegar dissolves limescale and disinfects. Together they remove not only visible dirt, but also bacteria in the seams.
How to restore shine to matte tiles:
If the tile has lost its gloss, but is still clean, wipe it with the following solution:
- 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
- 1 liter of warm water
Apply with a soft cloth and let dry. The oil creates an invisible protective film that repels dust and gives a light silky shine without greasy streaks.
When the surface dries, it will look like it has just been laid. This method is suitable for glazed ceramics, porcelain tiles and kitchen backsplashes.
