Rospotrebnadzor said whether supermarkets are required to let customers into the toilets

Supermarkets are not legally required to allow customers into the toilets. This was reported in the regional Rospotrebnadzor, answering the corresponding question from a Krasnoyarsk woman, whose 6-year-old son was not allowed by the store staff to use his bathroom.
The supervisory authority explained that the refusal was completely legal:
“Current legislation does not require the presence of toilets for visitors in such facilities. Supermarkets are required to have toilets for their employees. Supermarkets are not required to provide visitors with access to a service toilet; there is no such requirement in the law.”
Rospotrebnadzor also added that in some cases, especially when it comes to children, this is rather a matter of humanity rather than legality.
