Slovakia wants more F-16 aircraft from the US. Robert Fico is counting on an important contract


Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Sunday in Bratislava after a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that his country wants to buy an additional four F-16 aircraft. Machines of this type from the batch of 14 fighters already ordered are currently arriving in Slovakia. Fico also emphasized that he hoped for an agreement with the American company Westinghouse regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant. He also declared his participation in possible joint talks between the Visegrad Group countries and the United States on energy cooperation.

Marco Rubio visited Slovakia
Marco Rubio arrived in Bratislava on Sunday morning at the invitation of Juraj Blanar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia. He talked, among others: with President Peter Pellegrini, among others on security, cooperation in the field of defense and energy. Prime Minister Robert Fico also took part in the meetings.
Rubio said, among other things, that the United States does not want Europe to be its vassal. He assured that the United States wants to cooperate with the Visegrad Group countries, as proposed by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico.

After the meeting in Bratislava, Fico confirmed his interest in cooperation with the United States in the construction of a nuclear power plant. Slovakia also wants to buy even more F-16 fighters from the USA than before. The Prime Minister added that for a country that values sovereignty, it is shameful that the Slovak sky is defended by allies from Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
The Prime Minister also offered the American side assistance to Slovakia in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
