“Odesa Triangle”: Romania, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova form the Triple Cyber ​​Alliance. The announcement made by Oana Țoiu

The declaration on strengthening the resilience of Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in key areas such as energy security, cyber security and cooperation for a better land connection of the three countries was adopted at the ministerial meeting of the trilateral “Odesa Triangle” format.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to Agerpres on Sunday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, and his counterparts from Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova participated in the trilateral meeting, writes Agerpres.

“Through the Odesa Triangle format, we accelerate joint infrastructure projects, strengthen the regional voice on the global stage and address the concrete needs of our historical communities. We announced in the format of the Munich conference our decision to conclude a trilateral collaboration agreement in the field of cyber security, the Triple Cyber Alliance, because we have experts and experience, both in public institutions and in the private environment, and we want to increase our international positioning as partners and security providers in this field”, said Minister Oana Ţoiu, quoted in the press release.

The Memorandum of Understanding on the Triple Cyber ​​Alliance, aimed at better collaboration in the field of combating threats in the field, is being developed and operationalized at the level of the National Directorate for Cyber ​​Security and similar institutions and will enter into force after the planned signing this month.

The three ministers also discussed the governments' commitments to significantly expand regional connectivity in the field of energy to respond to the problems generated by Russia's attacks and to strengthen the connectivity necessary for the regional growth of our industries for the future. The solidarity of the civil society and the donation campaign for the electric generators was appreciated by the Ukrainian population and authorities.

The joint declaration reaffirms Romania's strategic role for the European integration of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, both on a political and institutional level and through the contribution of civil society, the release states.

The European financing of regional connection projects is a common priority in the future negotiations at the European level, allowing access to essential financing sources for strategic road, railway and energy projects, points out the quoted source.

The Romanian minister used the current platform to bring attention to the situation of the Romanian-speaking communities in Ukraine, a subject constantly addressed in the high-level bilateral relationship. At the same time, Oana Ţoiu emphasized the importance of ensuring education in the mother tongue, including in the context of the reform of the educational system and the need to continue the discussions already initiated at the level of the ministries of education for the completion of a jointly agreed solution until the implementation in 2027 of the new set of planned reforms, it is highlighted in the MFA press release.
