In a decade, Chinese cars will be the most popular in Europe – this was indicated by 47%. participants of the Santander Consumer Multirent study. Three-quarters of respondents believe that Chinese vehicles can be an alternative for the less wealthy, while half believe that these cars lose their value faster.

Cars from China increase the competitiveness of the European automotive market
The authors of the study pointed out that Chinese cars, until recently treated with distance, are now increasingly perceived as real competition for Western manufacturers. 72 percent respondents believed that cars from China increase the competitiveness of the European automotive market. However, 12% do not share this opinion. respondents. The highest percentage of positive responses was obtained in the group of fifty-year-olds – 76%. and seniors – 77 percent
Low purchase costs are – in the opinion of Polish consumers – one of the key advantages of Chinese brands. 71 percent respondents believe that their presence on the European market may contribute to a general reduction in car prices. 76 percent respondents perceive Chinese cars as a real alternative for people who cannot afford new cars from other manufacturers.
At the same time, half of the respondents agree with the statement that vehicles from China depreciate faster than models of other brands. 36 percent respondents have no opinion on this subject.
“The data shows that men are much more likely than women to believe that the presence of Chinese cars will have a positive impact on the competitiveness of the market. The difference in the belief that they will also cause a price drop is as much as 20 percentage points in favor of men,” pointed out Piotr Półtorzycki from Santander Consumer Multirent.
In turn, differences in the approach to operating costs can be seen in individual age groups. Seniors were almost twice as likely as the youngest respondents to point out that Chinese cars may lose their value faster.
Difficulty of handling is the main barrier?
The respondents identified difficulties in operating these vehicles as the main barrier to increasing market share by Chinese manufacturers. 39 percent expressed concern that spare parts and service for these cars are difficult to obtain in Poland. At the same time, 44 percent respondents admitted that they did not know whether such problems actually existed.
The study also shows that Polish drivers expect that the balance of power on the European market will change significantly in the coming decade. 47 percent predicts that in ten years cars from China will be the most popular. At the same time, 62 percent respondents indicated that Poles are becoming more and more open to purchasing vehicles from the Middle Kingdom.
35 percent respondents declared that they trust these cars more than a year ago. The highest dynamics of changes can be seen in the age group 30-39, in which half of the respondents indicated this.
The study was carried out on behalf of Santander Consumer Multirent by the Institute of Market and Social Research (IBRiS) on a group of one thousand adult Poles with a driving license. (PAP)
