“We need to work with imagination.” In the Olympic village, athletes took away all the free contraceptives – media

One of the athletes, who wished to remain anonymous, said that “the supplies sold out very quickly” and the organizers promise to bring more, but it is not known when.

The newspaper recalls that the distribution of condoms in Olympic villages is a traditional practice at many Games. The initiative, with the slogan “Health above all: prevention and common sense,” was launched by Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana, who even put the region’s symbol on the packaging.

Due to the limited supply of condoms, athletes are forced to look for alternative ways to have sex: using relaxation rooms with soft music and screens for privacy, or spending time on PlayStation while waiting for restocking.

“We have to work with imagination,” the athlete added.

For comparison, for the Winter Olympics, the organizers prepared about 10 thousand contraceptives, while two years ago at the Games in Paris, athletes were given 300 thousand (two per day for each).

Context

The opening of the Winter Olympic Games took place on February 6. The competition will last until February 22. 2.9 thousand athletes from more than 90 countries will take part in them. 116 sets of awards are up for grabs in 16 disciplines.
