Transfermarkt “took” all of Craiova from the first league! How Science now divides the record

On February 5, the Timișoara Court of Appeal rejected the appeal submitted by the CS Universitatea Craiova to the decision taken by the Dolj Court in May 2017, when the public law club's request to recognize the possession of the record of Science between 1948 and 1991 was rejected.

Thus, the court confirmed that the track record passed to the private company that continued the activity of the club under public law, FC U Craiova, the team disaffiliated in 2011 and later entered bankruptcy.

The decision is not irrevocable, CS Universitatea has the right to challenge it and will do so. But the High Court will no longer judge on the merits. The Timișoara decision will be overturned only if the magistrates discover procedural flaws in the way the appeal was judged.

Transfermarkt, the portal known in particular for assigning market values ​​to footballers, took note of the court ruling and made changes to the windows of the clubs involved.

Thus, the German site passed all the trophies won by Science in the record of the club FCU 1948 Craiova, the one founded by Adrian Mititelu in 2017, as the successor of the disaffiliated team in 2011.

Separately, the first league club associated with CS Universitatea Craiova has its own trophies won after its establishment in 2013: the Romanian Cup in 2018 and 2021, respectively the Supercup in 2021.

Basically, the Germans judged according to the principle of continuity: if the court judged that FC U Craiova, the successor of the football section of the public law club, took over the record, then FCU 1948 Craiova, the team established after the disaffiliation and bankruptcy of FC U, did the same.
