Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk confirmed on Friday that Germany had expressed its initial willingness to purchase Polish Piorun anti-aircraft systems. In his opinion, this shows how innovations in the Polish defense industry influence the perception of Poland in the world.

Piorun, a portable anti-aircraft missile system manufactured in Poland, is intended to combat low-flying aircraft, planes, helicopters and drones. Pioruna's assortment includes, among others: Norwegians, Latvians and Ukrainians.
Tomczyk was asked about Germany's interest in the Polish anti-aircraft system on Friday at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
– I confirm – Germany has expressed its initial willingness to purchase Piorun and we should be proud of it, because it shows how innovations in the Polish defense industry affect the perception of us in the world and the interests of our country from this point of view – said Tomczyk. He noted that he could confirm this information unofficially for now, as the matter “requires completion.”
– We often hear from PiS politicians that someone wants to make money from us. Let's get out of this forest. Let us, as Poles, as a Polish state, make money from other countries. The Piorun anti-aircraft system is such an example, Tomczyk added. (PAP)
