Ciprian Ciucu responds to the PSD attacks on Prime Minister Bolojan: “A grotesque, disgusting show! / The repeaters give lessons”

Capital City Mayor Ciprian Ciucu retaliated, in a post on Facebook, to PSD attacks targeting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, after the National Institute of Statistics confirmed that Romania entered a technical recession. The liberal claims that the reforms are being blocked by those who assumed them when they entered the governing coalition, and now he is attacking Bolojan for the disaster they left behind.

“A grotesque, disgusting show. Half a year ago, no one was flocking to take over the position of prime minister. They didn't know how to pretend it was raining and they were looking for technocrats to push forward. And they couldn't find those either! The great political men! The great leaders of today! The great critics!”, Ciprian Ciucu begins his post.

He claims that reforms are being blocked by those who see their privileges threatened, and is now promoting the message that Bolojan is against the people.

Bolojan compared to Adenauer

“They knowingly signed a government protocol, somewhat reformist, but with the thought of boycotting the government as soon as the heavy measures for the population will be taken. And then they postponed and compromised any reform that would take away from their privileges”, believes the liberal.

He considers it “totally unfair” that Bolojan is attacked daily in the press by people who blocked the measures agreed in 2025, measures that would have led to the cutting of privileges and a much better situation for the country.

“They only allowed the measures that affected the population to pass, after which they blocked the necessary reforms, after which the undermining of the credibility of the only man who assumed responsibility and was brave enough to do what was necessary after the budgetary disaster left ALL BY THEM! (…) The repeaters teach lessons. And the obscenely rich in business with the state and in privileges are looking for him on the watch,” said Ciucu.

The mayor is calling on the liberals to stick with Bolojan, the man who saved the party from an electoral disaster in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

“We always come after the left-wing populists to fix the disaster left by them. And all this time, Ilie Bolojan was silent. He did not respond to their infamies. With an abnegation worthy of Adenauer…”, concluded Ciucu.

Baluță compared the prime minister to Ceaușescu

Mayor of Sector 4 in the capital and president of the PSD Bucharest, Daniel Băluţă declared for Hotnews that Ilie Bolojan does not listen to “the voice of the people”. Among the series of attacks launched against the prime minister, Băluță compared Bolojan to Nicolae Ceaușescu.

“Don't think what I'm saying next is too harsh, but it's a reality. In recent months, we've been fixated on the phrase budget deficit.

As a man who passed through the year 1989, he is very similar to the fixation that Nicolae Ceauşescu had for the payment of the foreign debt. Which he did, just like Mr. Bolojan.

And I make an extremely honest comparison between the two political figures, because, in both situations, the voice of the people was ignored. The insistence on paying the foreign debt led to the collapse of the purchasing power, the impoverishment of the population, and the collapse of the regime”, claimed Daniel Băluţă, on the HotSpot show from HotNews.

“Change or we change”

Another virulent attack against the prime minister came from Claudiu Manda, the general secretary of the PSD, after the INS announcement regarding the entry into technical recession.

“The PSD assumed the responsibility of the government and tried to correct this direction from the inside. But responsibility does not mean endlessly circling a strategy that produces economic blockade and social tension. In its current form, this direction cannot continue. Mr. Bolojan, I tell you only one thing: change or we change you!”, Manda wrote on Facebook.

The prime minister is accused of having a “fixist approach” to the economy, by rejecting the measures proposed by the PSD for economic recovery.

“Fiscal consolidation is necessary, but turning it into an end in itself, without measures of economic stimulation and development, slowed down growth and pushed Romania into recession. And for that you are GUILTY, Mr. Bolojan, because you always looked for excuses for postponing the only measures that could have balanced the Romanian economy”, Manda said.
