“It's a great rivalry. Don't forget that we won two titles at U Cluj's ground, and all with scandal. (…) There were some things, some frustrations are gathering. U Cluj, the extraordinary team, is probably frustrated, because it won only one Romanian Cup, in '65.

Anything else, nothing! And we won two titles only with them on the field. I came to one with the gendarme van, with the whole team, from them at the stadium. The gendarmes let us in, to protect us.

So some frustrations built up. We are not envious of them, we have nothing to do. On their '65 Cup? I'm not envious, I'm not at all. They will be on our trophies8 championships, 5 Cups and 4 Supercups. I think this is the problem”, said the president of the CFR.

Mureșan: “Emil Boc can hold U Cluj's scarf around his neck, but he can also give us two million!”

He also related to the financial support that “U” benefits from the local authorities:

“They are the authorities' team, the City Hall gives them millions and nothing to us. There is a lot to discuss. I had a Hungarian friend who asked me: “President, are we beating them?” And I said: “We beat them”.

The mayor [Emil Boc] has the right to stick to a team. It's his right, he can't keep up with all the football. But the fact that he only gives money to one team is something else. Let him keep the scarf of U Cluj, but let him also give us two millionnot only them. I don't mind if they sign with their neckerchief.”

About 24 hours later came the reply of the counterpart from U Cluj, the president Radu Constantea. He was disappointed, even disappointed by Muresan's attack, and suggested that the CFR would have resorted to unclean things during the period mentioned by the chief from Gruia.

Constantea went live a few minutes after that U Cluj defeated Oțelul, 2-0to advance to the quarters of the Romanian Cup.

“An important victory. We were coming after the defeat in the derby, and after the discussions that took place in the last few days, it was quite a charged atmosphere at our club. I also had a feeling of total disappointment, especially after last night's intervention by Mr. President Muresan, which left a bitter taste.

There were about 6 minutes of presentation of a situation that I thought had been buried for a long time, since 2016-2017. A less beneficial period in the city, of rivalry between the CFR and the U.

He wanted to frustrate us and our supporters by reminding us how many titles they have won and that we only have one Cup, the one from '65. I convey to him that we have no frustration and we are extremely happy with that '65 Cup. I was very disappointed.

Today I couldn't even enjoy the match, I tell you honestly, because of the rekindling of this rivalry. I know a lot of things that happened from 2004 to 2015, 2016. I have been president for 10 years and I have not mentioned anything from that period. We certainly have many arguments to present what happened in that period in Cluj.

I would not like to go into details. He recalled the titles won in our stadium. I would only refer to the title on the old “Ion Moina” and I would mention only one name, our player Bilicaotherwise I would close this topic.

Well, I also had a friend from childhood, of Hungarian ethnicity, who before every match with CFR, which later proved to be problematic, asked us: “Stealing from us?”. And I confirmed them: Steal from us!

I thought these things were buried. Today I had a feeling of regret that I got involved in this phenomenon 10 years ago”, answered Constantea.

Fabio Bilica committed the title penalty

The player mentioned by Constantea, the Brazilian Fabio Bilica, was registered at U Cluj in the 2007/2008 season.

He was a key piece in the match that decided the 2008 champion and sparked the “Suitcase” scandal, because committed the penalty from which CFR scored the only goal. It was the last stage of the season that the team from Gruia ended with one point in front of FCSB.

A year later, after he had left Romanian football, Bilica admitted how “three days before the match, after I finished training, some players from CFR called me”.

“They asked me to meet somewhere in the city. I went. There they told me to let it be easier in the match with them. They didn't talk about any specific amount, but they just told me that it was a lot of money. But I refused them”, said the former Brazilian defender.
