US bans Russia from transactions with Venezuelan oil

In addition to the Russian Federation, the restriction applies to Iran, North Korea and Cuba, as well as organizations controlled by them are prohibited.

License No. 46A covers operations for the export, re-export, sale, transportation and storage of oil of Venezuelan origin. License No. 48 covers transactions involving the introduction by the United States or a United States person of goods, technology, software or services for the exploration, development or production of oil or gas in Venezuela.

Both documents permit such transactions if the contracts stipulate that they are governed by US law and disputes over transactions are resolved on American territory.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov previously complained in an interview with RT propagandists that after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the American authorities, Russian companies are being forced out of the country.

“Now, following Venezuela and what is happening there, they are openly trying to get us, our companies, out of Venezuela,” he said.
