The History Channel, the TV station that over the years has broadcast a series of popular shows such as “Pawn Stars”, “Storage Wars” or “American Pickers”, announced on Wednesday that another of its popular series, “Ice Road Truckers”, will return to the small screen after an 8-year hiatus.

“After an 8-year break since the last series produced, 'Ice Road Truckers' returns to Romania with season 12, on HISTORY Channel, from February 14, at 9:00 p.m. New episodes of the most frozen HISTORY Channel reality show are scheduled every Saturday,” the channel announced in a press release.

The new season will have 8 60-minute episodes each, produced in 2025, “where drivers with nerves of steel take their lives into their own hands and drive enormous vehicles across frozen lakes to deliver supplies to remote locations in Canada and Alaska,” according to the History Channel.

Season 12 will bring back veterans Lisa Kelly and Todd Dewey alongside new truck drivers like Scott “Scooter” Yuill, Shaun Harris and his sons Riley and Zach. The new season will also include stories focused on the famous Canadian Asheweig route and the new business ideas of Shaun Harris.

The Ice Road Truckers Show

The first 11 seasons of “Ice Road Truckers” aired on the History Channel from 2007 to 2017, during which time the production established itself as some of the TV station's flagship shows.

Its popularity led the History Channel to commission a spin-off series called IRT: Deadliest Roads, which ran for two seasons: one shot in the Himalayas, and the other in South America.

“All the truckers are dealing with increasingly difficult roads, issues with thinning ice (because of climate change), and difficulties with the braking system, broken hoses, or unloading 20 tons of steel as quickly as possible,” the History Channel notes in its release about the new season of “Ice Road Truckers.”

Although the History Channel is an American television network created on the basis of a partnership between Hearst Communications and Disney, in Romania the “Ice Road Truckers” show is not available on the Disney+ streaming platform, and can only be seen on TV.
