An elderly man died under the wheels of a train on the stretch between the Kemchug and Zeledeevo stations in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The Siberian transport police spoke about this.
It all happened this afternoon, February 11, in the area of the Badalozhny stopping point. According to preliminary data, the pensioner was moving along the tracks dangerously close to the rails. Because of an oncoming train, the 92-year-old man did not hear the approaching train, which was moving in the same direction. The driver applied emergency braking, but failed to avoid a collision.
The pedestrian was fatally injured by protruding elements of the locomotive. An investigative team arrived at the scene of the incident.
“The materials collected by the transport police will be sent to the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia for further verification,” law enforcement officers explained.
KrasRussian Railways reminds that you must be extremely attentive and careful on the railway. It is prohibited to stand between tracks when trains are passing, as well as to walk along the tracks and along the railway bed closer than five meters from the outermost rail. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in injury from protruding elements of the rolling stock or a pedestrian being pulled under the carriages by the air flow.
