From the beginning of 2026, specialists Krasnoyarsk branch of the center for assessing product safety and quality examined 10.5 thousand tons of imported products for the presence of quarantine objects, including 400 kg of malt from Belarus. Products came from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Armenia.
“The laboratory has conducted more than 3.9 thousand studies in the field of plant quarantine. At the same time, 27 cases of detection of quarantine objects were identified,” noted chief specialist of the inspection body center Yulia Anikutina.
In particular, in batches of pineapples, pomegranates, mangoes, pitahaya with a total weight of 18 tons, the Comstock bug was found, which is dangerous for 300 species of plants, including fruits, vegetables and ornamental crops. It is considered a difficult pest to eradicate due to its hidden lifestyle and waxy covering on the body, which makes chemical control difficult.
And Western flower thrips was detected in vegetables – zucchini, Chinese cabbage, peppers, lettuce and tomatoes with a total weight of 40 tons. Damage is caused by larvae and adult insects, which are carriers of dangerous viral diseases and lead to the death of plants.
Information about the detected pests was brought to the regional Rosselkhoznadzor for taking the necessary measures, the center clarified.
