The shelling of the Russian Federation damaged the infrastructure in the Sumy region. Due to de-energization, trains stopped

As of 23.02, it was about the delay of four trains:

  • No. 779/780 “Kyiv – Sumy” (+02.57);
  • No. 787/788 “Kyiv – SHOSTA” (+01.05);
  • No. 773/774 “Shostosta – Kyiv” (+03.30);
  • No. 143/144 “Sumy – Lviv” (+01.40).

“Ukrzaliznitsa” made reserve diesel locomotives as a readiness. The company's employees were waiting for an anxiety to examine the path, to ensure the “dimensions” and continue movement.

“Depending on the location of the train, passengers are in station shelters or in wagons. Our dispatchers are most closely monitoring the security situation in the region, and locomotive brigades are preparing to catch up with the schedule,” the company emphasized.

Sumyoblenergo informed that Konotopsky (partially) and Shostkin districts of the region were de-energized due to the blows of the Russian Federation on critical infrastructure.

Earlier on this day, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Grigorov, announced the Russian attack on the civilian infrastructure of the region. According to him, in Sumy and Shostkinsky districts of injuries from enemy shelling were received by three people.

In addition to de-energization in the Sumy region, on October 1, due to the Russian strike on the energy facility in Slavutich, the city and part of the Chernihiv region were left without light. “Cherni -Bannergo” called the situation “megacritic” and introduced the hourly shutdown schedule of electricity. As a result of shelling, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant spent several hours in Blackaut.

Context

The invaders tried to capture the Sumy region back in 2022, but then they were replaced. In 2025, the Russians again attack the Ukrainian region, firing infrastructure and civilian people.
