In a video published on TikTok, Martel reveals that he met Antonia Silaghi about two years ago. He confesses that he knew almost nothing about Romania before he met his future wife.

“I got to a point where she was going to move in with me in Utah, everything was going to be fine. I wasn't planning on living in the US all my life, but I hadn't considered Romania before her. All I heard (not related to Romania) were things about Andrew Tate and that's about it. Unfortunately, that put Romania on the map. (…) There's more to see than Andrew Tate. Trust me, I know that”

In the summer of 2024, the two were supposed to go to a wedding. After they returned from Puerto Rico to the US, his girlfriend was stopped at security. The checks revealed that she had overstayed her visa, and the authorities decided to send her back to Romania.

“He had overstayed his visa at that time by maybe a few months“, he says, and about the timing of the split, he says it was sudden. As he previously mentioned, he was always interested in the idea of moving out of the US.

He quickly made the decision to go to Romania, because he was working online and was not tied to home.

“We got married virtually in 7 minutes. Her parents were there for the call, her sister”says the American. “I knew we were going to get married, but not so soon. But we did it anyway.”

Martel Metellus says that moving to Romania quickly dispelled the prejudices he heard from American friends, who asked if he had electricity, internet or shops nearby.

Once he arrived in Oradea, the reality surprised him, especially the level of technology, which he considers even above some experiences he had in the USA, giving as an example a gym with access through facial scanning.

“Every time I walk down the street, people ask me, 'Are you a student here?'”he states. “It is unbelievable for them that an American can come to Romania just to live here”.

Last but not least, he conveys that life in Romania has changed his perspective on the balance between work and free time, being impressed by the more relaxed pace and the numerous holidays, which give him the feeling that there is always a reason to celebrate.

“Try to learn the language as well as you can. I appreciate the fact that Romanians are trying to learn English, but I have to do my part in learning Romanian too,” said the American.

The influencer appreciates the quality of food in Romania, which he considers superior to that in the US, although he thinks the portions are too large, and promotes a healthy lifestyle through sports, balanced nutrition and recovery.
