Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor explained whether the food operator should install a terminal for cashless payment in school canteens

The Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor explained whether a food service operator is required to install a terminal for non-cash payment for lunches in school canteens.

The department noted that according to the law, consumers must be given a choice: payment in cash or non-cash with bank cards and other electronic means of payment.

If a food service operator’s revenue over the past year exceeded 20 million rubles, then he is obliged to install a terminal for non-cash payment at the school. However, the food operator may be exempt from such obligations if the school does not have access to the Internet or the revenue for the past year at this school was less than 5 million rubles.

“Cashless payment for school lunches is really convenient for both children and parents. But the absence of a terminal in a school canteen does not always mean a violation of consumer rights,” the regional Rospotrebnadzor emphasized.
