AFP writes that a representative of the French carrier Air France in Havana confirmed this information, explaining that its planes returning from Cuba will make technical landings in one of the Caribbean countries.

Cuba is experiencing an unprecedented fuel supply crisis after Venezuela suspended oil supplies under US pressure. Washington is also threatening to impose high tariffs on countries that would sell fuel to Cuba.

Last Friday, the Cuban government announced a number of radical measures to reduce fuel consumption, including a four-day remote work week in public administration and state-owned enterprises and drastic restrictions on fuel sales at gas stations.

A reduction in domestic bus and rail connections and the closure of some tourist facilities were also announced. Schools and universities have limited the number of study days or announced a switch to remote mode.

As announced by Deputy Prime Minister Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga, the available fuel resources are intended primarily for the production of food and electricity.
