The price of tangerines will increase at least one and a half times in December. The reason is the clumsy logistics of supplying countries through Europe.
Wholesalers bring the main staple of the New Year's table from Turkey, Iran (they say that the juice is there), Georgia, China, Abkhazia, Egypt and Morocco. This year, many suppliers chose to ship fruit to Europe, hence the supply disruptions.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, since the beginning of 2024, 617.3 thousand tons of tangerines have arrived in Russia, and in 2023 – only 504.4 thousand. The Egyptians and Chinese doubled the shipment, 29.6% more tangerines came from South Africa (in 2024 – 58.2 thousand tons, in 2023 – 44.9 thousand tons). Abkhazia reduced supplies, Türkiye kept it the same, and Georgia brought more – the amount increased from 3.4 thousand tons to 12.6 thousand this year.
Prices have already jumped up: last year a kilo of orange wholesale cost 60–90 rubles, but this year the price has risen to 100–150. Iranian ones in stores now cost from 170 wooden ones, Moroccan ones – 250 per kilogram. In December, the price tag, according to experts, will again soar by at least 50 rubles.
