A new type of zoomer has appeared. They have conservative views, they do not like artists who have left and shout “Glory to Russia” at concerts. The godfather of such generation Z patriots is Alexander Ionov, producer and owner of the St. Petersburg “Ionotek” – the ancient mecca of teenage underworld. New guest of the podcast “Without leaving the room.”
Ionov lived in the USA for 15 years, at one time he turned the singer Grechka into the star of “Evening Urgant” and made sure that the songs of the underground artist Albina Seksova were ahead of the hits of Lana Del Rey in the iTunes charts. Previously, popular liberal artists performed at his club, but now the Limonov Readings are held there.
We talked with Ionov about how it happened that the new Zoomer culture is becoming patriotic, why liberal stars are no longer fashionable, whether we should wait for future youth to “get better,” and what modern teenagers generally believe in (you’ll be surprised!).
