The EU threatened Georgia with the abolition of visa-free travel due to the “decline of democracy”
The European Union may cancel the visa-free regime with Georgia due to the “decline of democracy” in the country, a European Commission representative told Politico.

All options are being considered if the ruling Georgian Dream party continues on its authoritarian trajectory, including a potential temporary suspension of the visa liberalization scheme.

Earlier today, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pavel Gerchinsky issued the same warning. He stated that The European Union expressed concern at the highest level due to the trajectories of events developing in Georgia.

Instead of reforms that will bring Georgia closer to the European Union, unfortunately, in recent months there have been several events that increase the distance between Georgia and the EU.
