President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania resigned. Over the weekend, he promised to step down as soon as the opposition vacated the parliament building.
The acting president of Abkhazia will be the vice-president of the republic, Badra Gunba, and the head of government will be ex-prime minister Valery Bganba.
As we wrote earlier, the protesters were unhappy with the new law, which provides benefits for investors from the Russian Federation. The opposition asked to sort out its mess in cadastral maps and pay attention to the energy, water supply and sewage systems that are barely able to withstand the load.
