The US cuts ties with the head of the Polish Parliament after the attacks on Trump. What the Warsaw leader said

Relations between the United States and Poland are being tested after the US ambassador to Warsaw announced that he was severing all ties with Polish parliament speaker Wlodzimierz Czarzasty, accusing him of insulting Donald Trump and refusing to support his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The US ambassador to Warsaw, Tom Rose, said on Thursday that Washington will completely cut ties with the speaker of the Polish parliament, Wlodzimierz Czarzasty, amid his criticism of US President Donald Trump. The announcement comes after Czarzasty challenged Trump's policies and refused to support the initiative to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.
“(Czarzasty's) outrageous and unprovoked insults against President Trump have turned him into a serious obstacle to our excellent relations with Prime Minister Tusk and his government,” Tom Rose wrote on Platform X. The ambassador pointed out that the US will no longer have “relationships, contacts or communications” with the Polish parliamentary leader.
“We will not allow anyone to harm US-Poland relations or disparage (Trump), who has done so much for Poland and the Polish people“, added the American diplomat, according to Reuters.
Denial of support for the Nobel Peace Prize
Tensions flared after Wlodzimierz Czarzasty announced he would not support the initiative launched by US House Speaker Mike Johnson and Israeli Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, which sought to mobilize parliament heads to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026 for his efforts to bring peace to the Middle East.
“In my opinion, President Trump is destabilizing the situation in these (international) organizations by representing the politics of force and using force to pursue a transactional policy“, Czarzasty told journalists. The leader of the Left party, a minority partner in the government coalition, made it clear: “All this means that I will not support President Trump's nomination for the Nobel Prize, because he does not deserve it.”
Czarzasty's reply and Donald Tusk's reaction
In response to the US ambassador's tough stance, Wlodzimierz Czarzasty wrote on X that he regretted his reaction, but stressed that he would not change his view on the fundamental issues.
The exchange of words also provoked a reaction from the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who publicly intervened in the dispute. “Mr. Ambassador Rose, allies should respect each other, not lecture each other. At least that's how we, here in Poland, understand the partnership“, Tusk said.
A fragile political balance in Warsaw
According to Reuters, Ambassador Tom Rose's vehement reaction highlights the delicate position in which politicians in Poland's pro-European governing coalition are trying to retain the support of the country's most important ally as Donald Trump promotes “America First” policies that many Polish leaders consider harmful.
The dispute also highlighted the differences between Donald Tusk's government and the nationalist opposition, with President Karol Nawrocki known for a position much closer to the MAGA movement. “The current coalition in power chose a man who does not understand the importance and meaning of alliances as the president of the parliamentNawrocki's spokesman, Rafal Leskiewicz, told the PAP agency.
