Moldova Prime Minister Dorin Recean warned on Wednesday that Russia spends hundreds of millions of euros to “take power” in Sunday Moldovan parliamentary elections that can change the country's pro -veneous course.


– An election campaign is underway in the Republic of Moldova. The Russian Federation also participates in it. Only that we run it in our own country, and the Russian Federation wants to do it not at home, and us – said Recean.
The Prime Minister accused the Kremlin attempted to “take power in Chisinau in violation of the sovereign will” Moldovans.
– This is not an ordinary election struggle. This is the siege of our country, he said.
According to him, Russia is trying in various ways to reduce support for the ruling pro -European Party of Action and Solidarity, which definitely won the election in 2021.

Moscow denies attempts to interfere in elections in Moldova. On Tuesday, Russia's foreign intelligence service (SWR) accused Western politicians that they were striving for Moldova to continue to conduct “Russophobic policy.”
On Monday, the authorities in Chisinau announced that as a result of the operation, during which 250 searches were carried out, 74 people were detained. The Moldovan police reported that the action was part of the investigation into the alleged, supported plan for the construction of “mass riots” and destabilization of the country before the election.
According to surveys, the main rival of the ruling liberal action and solidarity (PAS), headed by President Maia Sandu, is a pro -Russian patriotic electoral block (BEP).
