Ciucu denies the salary cut at STB, in a live broadcast from the bus, and raises an alarm: “He has the budget of Brașov. Where does the money go?”

The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, commented, in a live on Facebook while traveling by public transport, the rumor that the salaries of STB employees would be cut.

“These days there have been several discussions about the huge financial problems at the STB level, but also from several public topics.
First of all, I want to address STB employees. I want to address the drivers and vatmans. Rumors started circulating in STB yesterday that Ciucu wants to cut their salaries. It's not true,” he specified.
Ciprian Ciucu warned that the financial situation of the Bucharest Transport Society is “extremely bad”.
“STB has the budget of the city of Brasov every year. The whole city of Brasov, everything that the city hall has, their budget of 1.7 billion lei, this was the budget of STB in the last year.
What is this money going to? I wanted to find out too. We asked in the General Council to have an audit, an evaluation to see what is happening. I was not left by the council, not all parties voted”, the capital's mayor also declared.
Ciprian Ciucu explains that the town hall is facing financial difficulties in the relationship with STB due to wrong decisions in the past, which made the payments to the company no longer bearable.
The mayor says he's thinking about the employees, drivers and porters, who have had their wages flat for years while management has continued to hire, increasing the staffing scheme.
Ciucu: “Things are almost out of control at STB”
Ciprian Ciucu explains that, currently, the mayor is not directly responsible for what happens at STB. He also states that, regarding the audit, he encountered opposition in the CGMB from some political parties, such as PSD, PUSL and AUR.
“I called the management of STB and TPBI. TPBI is an entity to which the General Council delegates the transport service. The mayor is not responsible for what is happening in STB at the moment. He was delegated to an ADI (no Intercommunity Development Association, formed by local authorities in the Bucharest-Ilfov region).
Things are almost out of control at STB. I have spoken to both drivers and vatmani and will speak again. And I say to myself: “Look what problems we have!”. They tell me that they get up at 3 in the morning to go to work, in the fiercest wind.
There have been no salary increases for drivers and drivers for a very long time. But other contracts were made. That's what I wanted to do with that audit. Let's see where the money goes. They did not want, PSD in particular, PUSL, AUR”, he explains.
Last but not least, he conveys that his message is addressed to drivers and drivers, emphasizing that he wants to save the company and protect the jobs of the employees.
“My message this morning is for vatmani, for drivers: I am the one who wants to save the company. The problems are huge. I gave you today a comparison with the budget of Brașov. The city hall can no longer support it. The first condition is that it can be financially supported. I want to save the jobs of vatmani, drivers, and workers, they are needed to turn the wheel, not the dozens of bosses.
I spoke to the management of STB and told them: you must not convince me that your company is not insolvent, so that I can tell the Government the same. We asked them for a plan to reduce expenses and increase revenues”, explained the Mayor of the Capital.
He also asked for a management plan, such as in the case of situations where travelers travel without a ticket. The Mayor of the Capital announced that such live broadcasts will be more frequent, every time there are rumors, adding that “it has gone too far”.
