Zoo activists are fighting with the St. Petersburg restaurant “Korchma Salo”. Because of the minipig mascot, which, in their opinion, is in terrible conditions – looks at fat every day . Since September, Restik has been ignoring the demands of supervisory authorities to remove enclosures with pigs.
Locals have been fighting with the eatery administrators for several months now. According to those who are concerned, the dwarf pig is kept in an enclosure for about a year, after which it is replaced with a new one. Because only a piglet looks cute – unlike a grown-up pig. The owners say that the old people are sent to the farm. Animal rights activists do not believe in this version – they are afraid that the “spent” pigs are being sent to slaughter.
In September, activists went to complain to Rosselkhoznadzor – they banned keeping an enclosure with pigs in public catering, but in reality nothing has changed. Volunteers create petitions and try to fight off the pigs on their own. To all the excitement around the minipigs, the restaurant manager shrugs her shoulders. They say that a piglet lives better than many people: the animal is vaccinated, fed according to a special menu, carefully monitored for health, cared for, washed and taken care of in every possible way. We wish we could live like this ourselves.
