There are no security guarantees in the new agreement between Ukraine and the United States on mineral resources. The US contribution is weapons already issued to Kyiv. The document covers all resources of Ukraine, including oil and gas. Including those that are still unknown.
This was reported by Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who criticized the project and called it “terrible.”
According to Zheleznyak, this is not the final document. He hopes for significant changes from Ukraine. The main provisions of the American proposal, the deputy assures, are as follows:
— The joint fund will be managed by five people. Three of them are Americans with veto power;
— The agreement applies to all resources throughout Ukraine;
— Funds are converted into foreign currency and transferred abroad, Ukraine pays extra if there is a shortage;
— The USA receives royalties first, then Ukraine;
— The agreement is unlimited, changes only with the consent of the United States;
— The United States has the right of first night on infrastructure projects and a veto on the sale of resources.
