James Rodriguez (34), the Colombian international, is in advanced talks with Minnesota United, Major League Soccer, for a transfer that would represent one of the most spectacular moves in the history of the American club.
At 34, the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder is out of contract after parting ways with Club Leen in the Mexican league. The Colombian has not featured at club level since November, and The Athletic note that Rodriguez is close to making his MLS debut.

Even though he hasn't played an official game since November 2025, when he turned out for Colombia, Rodriguez continues to be a benchmark for coach Nestor Lorenzo. At the 2024 Copa America, played right in the United States, James was considered by many experts to be the best player of the tournament, leading Colombia to the final lost to Argentina, score 0-1.
His last venture at club level was in Mexico, at Club Leon, where he amassed 34 appearances, managing 5 goals and 9 assists, over two seasons. If in the first season the team reached the play-offs, the second was far below expectations, with Leon finishing near the bottom of the standings.
Currently rated at €2 million on Transfermarkt, James Rodriguez has an impressive CV, having played at: Envigado, Banfield, Porto, Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Everton, Al-Rayyan, Olympiakos, Sao Paulo, Rayo Vallecano and Club Leon throughout his career. For the Colombian national team, James collected 122 caps, scoring 31 goals and 41 assists.
