Exactly one year after retiring from tennis, Simona Halep (33 years old) sent a message and posted a photo from the court where she played the last official match of her career. This week, the two-time Grand Slam winner is serving as an honorary ambassador for the Transylvania Open.

On February 4, 2025, after losing to Lucia Bronzetti in the inaugural round of the Transylvania Open, Simona Halep took the microphone and announced her retirement in front of the fans in BTarena. She made this decision after a few difficult years in the latter part of her career.

Exactly one year after that moment, Halep is back in Cluj-Napoca, this time as an honorary ambassador of the Transylvania Open. She posted a photo on social media and shared a message about the past year.

I am extremely happy to be back here, this time in a completely new role for me, on the court where exactly one year ago I said goodbye to professional tennis. It was a very emotional moment, but above all, one full of gratitude.

A year later, I feel the same peace about my decision, proud of all I have achieved and determined to stay close to the sport that has given me so much.

I am deeply grateful for the love and support I continue to receive from fans. It means more than words can say and I carry that with me every day

During the Transylvania Open, Simona Halep was involved in various actions with the fans, both in the BTarena and at other institutions. Also, before the start of the tournament, the former world leader participated in the main draw draw.

On June 13, 2026, during the Sports Festival, Simona Halep will have a withdrawal match.
