Since the beginning of January, severe frosts have been sweeping across Poland, reaching up to -25 degrees Celsius. Low temperatures and weather conditions are taking their toll on the infrastructure throughout the country. They cause, among others: delays of trains or planes, but they also cause more work, among others. gasworks, power plants and heating systems.

The state-owned gas transmission company Gaz-System boasted its results for January on the X platform. They show that in January, over 3 billion cubic meters flowed through the transmission system. gas, and the average daily transmission amounted to almost 100 million cubic meters.
“Such high volumes were possible thanks to investments in infrastructure, expansion of domestic and interconnections, gas storage facilities and the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście,” say the company's representatives.

Record in gas transmission broken. It's all because of the frost
This year's frosts are breaking the daily record. It is worth recalling that the result valid until January was established in the first month of 2021, when consumption in Poland reached 88.7 million cubic meters. per day.
According to the company, it has broken further transmission records. Within 24 hours, the company transferred over 115.4 million cubic meters in Poland. gas and exported 13.9 million cubic meters. to Lithuania and Ukraine.

Where does Poland import gas from?
According to the latest statistics, 305 natural gas deposits have been identified in Poland in various parts of the country. Its resources are estimated at approximately 90 billion cubic meters.
