Adrian Ursea (58 years old), the coach of the Swiss team Yverdon Sporta team from the second tier of Swiss football, qualified for the semi-finals of the Swiss Cup, being the third time in the club's history that this feat has been achieved.

Adrian Ursea qualified Yverdon Sport to the semi-finals of the Swiss Cup
Appointed as coach of the Yverdon Sport team in the summer of 2025, Adrian Ursea, the former midfielder from Petrolul Ploiești and Rapid București, achieved a historic performance with the team from the second Swiss league. In a match in the quarterfinals of the Swiss Cup, the Romanian technician's team eliminated Neuchatel Xamax, another team from the second league, score 2-0.
This result produced a positive impact among the fans of the team, but also among the officials. The team, founded in 1897, have not won a single trophy in their history, and this will be the third time they have reached the semi-finals of the competition.
“2001, 2022… 2026! Yverdon Sport will be in the semi-finals of the Swiss Cup in the most incredible season in their history!“, the message posted by the club states.

After the end of his football career, Ursea became “second” at Servette Geneva. He coached Swiss clubs such as Meyrin FC or Neuchatel Xamax, but the most important team he coached is Nice. The technician was on the bench in 30 games, between 2020 and 2021. He took over Yverdon in July 2025, and since then the team has been going through a very good period. The team was relegated at the end of last season, and now they hope to return to the first echelon.
