Adrian Mutu categorized the current season as a “historic” one and believes that in a composition without a champion and vice-champion, the University of Craiova would have the first chance to win the title.

Adrian Mutu predicts a play-off without CFR Cluj and FCSB: “It's a big chance for Craiova”

“I think we will have a historic season, without FCSB and CFR Cluj in the play-off. I think we will have a historic season. Apart from Metaloglobus, the others are contenders for the play-off.

We will have a historic season, even if I don't want it, because a play-off with FCSB and CFR is more spectacular.

It's a big chance for Craiova in the play-off, without the two. In order for FCSB and CFR to qualify, they have to beat everything, otherwise they have no chance”, said Adrian Mutu, according to digisport.ro.

At this moment Craiova University is the leader of the Superleague, with 46 points accumulated in 24 stages. In the last stage of the championship, Olten lost to Farul Constanța, score 1-4. In 2nd place is Dinamo with 45 accumulated points, equal points with Rapid, the difference being made only by goal difference. FC Argeș is on 4th, FC Botoșani on 5th, and U Cluj on 6th. The “Red Caps”, the team in the last place in the play-off, has 39 points at the end of stage #24.

CFR Cluj is closer to the play-offs at the moment. After the victory in the direct match with FCSB, score 4-1, and a victory with Metaloglobus, score 4-2, Daniel Pancu's formation approached only 4 points from the play-off zone. FCSB is in 11th place, with 34 points. There are 6 stages left until the end of the regular season.
