Watch out for text messages telling you to pay the toll or your car will be confiscated. CNAIR: “These messages are FALSE!”

Drivers should be aware of new fraud attempts circulating online involving the payment of a toll. The National Road Infrastructure Administration Company (CNAIR) warned, on Monday, that false messages were reported threatening drivers with the confiscation of their vehicle if they do not pay, within 12 hours, an alleged “overdue road tax“.

Circulates during this period misleading messages claiming that they are sent in the name of “Rovinieta” or of CNAIR and request the urgent payment of an alleged “overdue road tax”, under the threat of fines or even confiscation of the vehicle. These messages are FALSE”CNAIR transmitted on the Facebook page.

The authority specified that it does not send SMSs containing payment links and does not order the confiscation of vehicles. The links included in these messages lead to fraudulent websites designed to steal personal data and banking information. CNAIR advises drivers not to access the received links, not to enter card data or other personal information, but to delete the message and block the sender.

For correct information about the toll and payment methods, drivers are advised to use only official CNAIR channels and authorized platforms.
