The Russian attack on a bus near Pavlohrad in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region killed at least 15 miners and injured seven others, Ukraine's largest private energy company DTEK said, as quoted by The Kyiv Independent.

Russia has launched a large-scale attack against DTEK mines, the company announced. One of the drone strikes hit a bus in Ternivka that was carrying miners after the mine exit.

Oleksandr Hanja, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, stated that the attack was carried out with the help of drones.

“The service bus was carrying miners, civilians who were not involved in the fighting. This is yet another brutal attack, resulting in casualties,” said Dmytro Lubinet, the Ukrainian Ombudsman.

Earlier on Sunday, Russia also launched two attacks on the city of Zaporizhia, injuring nine people, including a child. One of the attacks targeted a maternity hospital.

The attack comes amid efforts to negotiate a peace deal between Ukraine, the United States and Russia.

Moscow's strikes have caused a major crisis in the Ukrainian energy system. On January 29, US President Donald Trump announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to suspend attacks on Ukrainian cities for a week. Moscow later said the deal only applied to Kiev and would last until February 1.
