The management of the Pisa club, where the Romanian international Marius Marin (27 years old) plays, decided to dismiss Alberto Gilardino (43 years old) from the position of head coach of the team.
The former Italian international took over the team in the summer of last year, replacing another former great striker, Filippo Inzaghi (52 years old), the craftsman of promotion from Serie B in the previous season.

The appointment of Gilardino to the technical bench before the start of this season did not bode well for Pisa, who have recorded only one victory in the past 23 stages in Serie A. The only success dates back to the 11th round, when Pisa beat another newly promoted team, Cremonese, 1-0 at home.
Otherwise, Pisa have drawn 11 and lost 11 times this season, and the team is in 19th place with 14 points, level with “red lantern” Verona, and 4 points behind the first place that ensures safety from relegation, currently held by Lecce, who have a game in hand.
Pisa lost again at this stage, 1-3 at home to Sassuolo, a match in which Marius Marin was replaced at half-time, when the scoreboard showed 2-0 in favor of the guests.
Thus, the management of the club took a radical decision and communicated to Alberto Gilardino that he was dismissed from his position, claims the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
A former Italian international with 57 caps for the 'Squadra Azzurra', Gilardino started his playing career at Piacenza and went on to play for Hellas Verona, Parma, AC Milan, Fiorentina twice, Genoa, Bologna, Guangzhou, Palemro, Empoli, Pescara and Spezia.
Gilardino started his coaching career in 2019 at Pro Vercelli and then coached Siena twice. In the period 2022-2024, the Italian coached at Genoa, and in the summer of 2025 he arrived at Pisa.
