The initiative to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump was put forward by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, Mike Johnson, and the Speaker of the Knesset of the State of Israel, Amir Ochanna. On Friday, the Sejm received correspondence regarding the Marshal of the Sejm's support for their efforts.
– I will consider the matter. I will present my position on this matter to the public on Monday, Czarzasty announced.
Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski was also asked about his opinion on this matter. At a press conference after the meeting with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, the head of Polish diplomacy emphasized that he maintained his current position. – If President Trump brings about a just peace for Ukraine, I will also sign such a nomination, because I have the right to do so, Sikorski said on Friday.
Xavier Bettel, who was present at the briefing, said: – Russian attacks and bombings on Ukraine are still ongoing, but we can form a support committee if this conflict can be resolved.
Trump and his entourage often say that the president “ended eight wars” and deserves the Nobel Prize for his peace-building efforts. The American leader emphasizes that the ninth war he would like to “end” is the conflict in Ukraine, but, as he has often admitted, it turned out to be more difficult to solve than he thought.
Last year, Trump's candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize was supported by, among others: the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Israel, Cambodia and Rwanda. Representatives of the families of Hamas hostages kidnapped on October 7, 2023 also supported the award for the American president.
The winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was finally the leader of the democratic opposition in Venezuela, Maria Corina Machado, who in January this year. presented Trump with her medal “in recognition of his exceptional dedication to the freedom” of Venezuela. (PAP)
